In February 2023, total digital camera shipments were 90.4% (113.5% in value terms) compared to same period last year. The calculation of amount is slightly higher than for same period last year. This year it seems that dynamics are not as good as in second half of last year.
According to shipment statistics by region, compared to same period last year, Japan accounted for 102.1%, China for 107.1%, Asia outside Japan and China for 98.3%, and Europe for 79 .7% to America. accounted for 80.6%, while other regions accounted for 111.8%%, since last month, decline in Europe and America was more significant, but Asian region, including Japan, basically remained same as last year.
Among camera shipments, fixed-lens camera shipments accounted for 89.8% year-over-year (137.3% in shipping value), down year-over-year in terms of shipment volume. , but according to calculation, shipment amount is much higher than last year. Interchangeable lens cameras accounted for 90.7% of same month last year (110.6% in shipping value), and shipping value was slightly higher than same period last year. In past, interchangeable-lens cameras performed significantly better than fixed-lens cameras, but this year, fixed-lens cameras performed well.
Among interchangeable lens cameras, 77,650 SLRs and 243,695 mirrorless cameras were shipped. The number of DSLRs was about halved from same month last year, while number of mirrorless cameras increased by about 20%.
